WHAT IS RSAF?
RSAF stands for the Rhodes Scholars’ Southern Africa Forum. We are Rhodes Scholars currently studying at the University of Oxford committed to raising awareness about issues facing the African continent and supporting community development projects across Sub-Saharan Africa. RSAF raises money in the United Kingdom for small-scale projects contributing to poverty alleviation and improving the lives of vulnerable people in Sub-Saharan Africa. We hope to build partnerships with the organisations we support and are eager to find new ways of working with organisations, although we can only provide funding through our formal grants process. Our main activities are fundraising and the grant funding process, but we also host talks and events on Southern African issues and have a consultancy project.
WHO ARE THE RHODES SCHOLARS?
Rhodes Scholars are recipients of the Rhodes Scholarship, established in 1903 under the will of Cecil Rhodes. Every year 83 graduate students are selected from around the world to come and study at the University of Oxford. In line with the Founder’s criteria, Rhodes Scholars aim to “fight the world’s fight”, and to “esteem the performance of public duties as their highest aim”, and to promote international understanding and peace.
WHY WAS RSAF FOUNDED?
In recognition of the controversial legacy of Cecil Rhodes in Southern Africa, Rhodes Scholars wanted to establish an organisation to support socioeconomic development of the region and to build relationships with inspiring organisations working on the region’s pressing issues.
WHERE DOES RSAF GET ITS MONEY FROM?
RSAF raises money from current Rhodes Scholars through:

Annual events:
